WHIRC Receives UMD Grand Challenges Institutional Award

The Women’s Health Interdisciplinary Research Collaborative (WHIRC) has been awarded a University of Maryland Grand Challenges Institutional Grant.

Led by Marie Thoma (Family Science, School of Public Health) together with principal investigators Jioni Lewis (Counseling Psychology, College of Education), Alisa Clyne (Bioengineering, A. James Clark School of Engineering), and Ang Li (Electrical and Computer Engineering, A. James Clark School of Engineering), WHIRC unites nearly 100 faculty, staff, and trainees across campus.

The collaborative will expand women’s health research across the lifespan through three interconnected pillars: advancing translational research, developing a diverse workforce pipeline, and establishing community partnerships to carry findings beyond academia into policy and practice.

Bridging Disciplines. Advancing Research and Education. Elevating Women’s Health.
